Creation Evolution

As Christian educators we have a huge responsibility to present students with truth, and to allow them to see God as supernatural. If we ourselves are not convinced about the awesome supernatural nature of God, them how can we expect student to have the simple faith of a child, that God requires?

When we ask Christians whether they believe in Creation, as opposed to evolution, the overwhelming majority would vote for Creation. However, if we ask them what exactly they mean by Creation, they often say that God took millions of years to create the earth, each day being a thousand, or millions of years. They do not think about the fact that if each day represents millions of years, then death and suffering happened before the fall. How could birds, fish and land animals live on the earth for millions of years with no death? The earth could not support such an animal population. If we believe that the fossil record has a history of millions of years, then we are talking about millions of years of death and suffering, (bones of dead things). Yet the Bible tells us that Jesus came to provide an answer to death. If death was part of God's original perfect world, (before the fall), there would have been no purpose for His coming to earth.

Those who teach millions of years, say "I'm not really concerned whether the earth was created in six days or millions of years. It just doesn't matter." But in fact it does. To hold to 'millions of years' is to believe that God is not able to create the universe in six days. It is stating that God is not powerful enough to do such a miracle. It reduces God to a human capacity. By not making a stand on six-day creation we are undermining the students' potential to trust in a supernatural God. We are undermining their potential faith. We are placing them in the mould of liberalism.

We should all be as children. Children have the greatest potential to believe in a supernatural God. The words of Jesus are very strong when He said that whoever destroys the faith of these little ones should have the millstone tied around his neck!
